ScholarChips, a 2017-18 grantee partner, will host its inaugural gala, “Journey to the Tassel” on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 7-9 pm at the historic Thurgood Marshall Center Trust in Washington, DC. Join them as they redefine the national narrative on youth with incarcerated parents! Since its founding eight years ago, the organization has supported 51 scholars with incarcerated parents to reach their dreams of attending college through financial and mentoring support.
The mistress of ceremonies will be Barbara Harrison, special projects anchor, NBC 4 Washington. Featuring dinner, music, dancing, and scholar and community award presentations to A. Scott Bolden, Managing Partner at Reed Smith LLP; Carol Fennelly, Executive Director of Hope House; and Tony Lewis, Jr., Author and Re-entry Expert.
Funds raised will support their newly established Mentorship and Alumni Engagement Program.
